Chapter Twenty-Three

My phone pinged several times on the drive home. Xander had sent several files, one of them about the sister of Emerson’s friend. He’d tracked down the last two addresses where she lived before her life went off the rails.

“We need to get on this for Emerson. I’d want to do it even if it wasn’t going to help my brother’s case,” I said.

“It would be helpful if we could talk to the boy,” Fab said.

“I doubt Gail would allow that to happen, especially since it sounded like she was breaking the rules getting us involved.” I flicked through my phone again. “I’m going to peruse the file Xander sent over and make a list of anything that stands out, and we can go on a local road trip tomorrow. Won’t that be fun?”

Fab pulled into the compound and parked in my driveway. “After that, let’s take a couple of days and do nothing. I wouldn’t mind another boat trip, and this time, take our husbands. No worries about me wanting to go back to the West mansion. We got away without injury the last time, and I want to keep it that way.”

“We were lucky.”
